Sligo welcomes first of four new Irish guaranteed millionaires as EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ event kicks off

Someone in the county has woken up as Ireland’s newest millionaire after Friday night’s EuroMillions draw.

The winning quick pick ticket worth €1m was sold at regional stores, Ballinode in Sligo.

Typically, in each EuroMillions draw, ten Irish players win €5,000 in the ‘Ireland Only Raffle’.

In last night’s draw, an additional €1m was added to the special raffle draw and out of nine €5,000 winners, one of those winners took home an additional €1m.

The winning ‘Ireland Only Raffle’ raffle code from last night’s EuroMillions draw worth €1,005,000 for a Sligo player is: I – NBF – 65003

Store owner Michael Higgins was thrilled when he found out his store was selling the winning ticket. “The first thing I did was call my wife and ask her if she had played last night, she said she had.

“I told him to come in quickly and check the ticket! But alas, it wasn’t us. We were surprised to learn that we had sold the winning ticket to one of our lucky customers in Sligo!

“We are a local family business, open for 50 years with the forecourt and 35 years with the shop. We’ve been selling lotto here since daybreak and we’ve never had a substantial winner, until today! We are absolutely delighted for the winner.”

Last night’s draw also saw a player from Meath match five numbers to win €32,589. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on the day of the draw at Gala, The Brink Service Station, Rathdrinagh, Beauparc, Co Meath.

The National Lottery encourages all of its players to check their tickets carefully. There was no winner of the €30,356,111 jackpot on offer, which now rises to €40 million on Tuesday 9 August.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Imagine what it would be like to wake up feeling over a million euros better? Well, one lucky Sligo player won’t have to imagine that this morning because he’s living that dream.

“We ask everyone in Sligo to check these tickets and see if their raffle code is I – NBF – 65003. If this code matches the one on your EuroMillions ticket, we will ask you to sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email mailto:[email protected], and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize.
